Welcome Home Vietnam War Veterans
The late 1960's and early 1970's were a time of social upheaval in the United States, and the Vietnam War was growing increasingly unpopular among the American public. Many Vietnam veterans were poorly treated upon their return from Vietnam, blamed by the public for a war they did not start and which they did not direct.
April 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Join the Mason community at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Mason Municipal Center as we come together to host a Welcome Home parade for the brave men and women who served during the Vietnam War.
If you are a Vietnam veteran, or a family member of a Vietnam veteran, we'd like to hear from you via the questionnaire below. We are hoping to honor as many Vietnam veterans as possible in various ways. We understand each veteran is unique. Some veterans welcome a chance to talk a bit about their experience, some would like to walk in a short parade, while still others would rather not make a fuss about this chapter of their life, and a simple card or note of thanks will do. The questions at the link below are designed to gather information necessary for Joe Barr American Legion Post 194 and the City of Mason to honor our Vietnam veterans on April 5th, 2025.
